Yet again this year we’ve had a shake up of the top three favourites for vegan food in Whistler!
Every year we ask the Whistler Vegans Facebook Group members to vote on their favourite places to get vegan food in Whistler. Each year we have more and more vegan options and this year we even had a 100% vegan bakery open in Whistler!
BReD, in Whistler’s Creekside, sells the most incredible bread you’ll ever eat (vegan or otherwise) as well as delectable baked goods, such as cinnamon rolls, carrot cake, cookies and more. They came SO close to being voted number 1, but were pipped at the post by just one extra vote.
Winning first place for vegan food in Whistler is Harajuku Izakaya, a Japanese tapas and sake bar. The creamy vegan ramen (ordered from sister restaurant Ohyama Ramen) is a must-have dish for vegans and non-vegans alike. Harajuku also shares the vegan love with their Rock’n’Roll vegan sushi, Green Bowl, vegan spring rolls, roasted Brussels sprouts, Agedashi tofu, Crunchy Tofu Salad and more.
Coming in as third favourite is The Velvet Underground in Function Junction. The Velvet Underground is a vintage clothing store and vegan café. They sell vegan pies, scramble, avo toast (made with bread from BReD!), homemade baked goods, vegan cheeze, smoothies and more in an eclectic setting. Pick up some cool clothes while you’re there!
Whistler has also seen the addition of many other tasty vegan dishes this year, such as the plant-based menu at Earl’s, vegan pizza at Functional Pie made with vegan cheeze and sausage and some delightful vegan options at new restaurant The Raven Room. Even Peaked Pies added some vegan pies to their menu, and Fat Tony’s added vegan pizza with vegan cheeze. Times sure are changing!
